I am a PhD student at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, where I work as a researcher and teaching assistant for courses in bioinformatics and introductory Python programming.
My research focuses on unsupervised representation learning, particularly on dimensionality reduction for visualization and temporal embeddings, with applications to large-scale biomedical datasets. In addition, my recent work explores the deployment of large language models in educational settings, including automated assessment and feedback generation.
You may know some of my open-source work, including the openTSNE and VERA libraries for low-dimensional embeddings, as well as my contributions to the Orange data-mining toolkit.
Together with colleagues, I co-developed an open bioinformatics course structured around a COVID-19 investigation storyline, which has become highly popular among students and is publicly available online. I also led one of the first real-world deployments of large language models for automated grading in a university classroom setting.
